Brian Griffin

Brian Griffin (born Birmingham in 1948) studied photography in Manchester before starting work as a freelance photographer in 1972. Since then he has produced images for magazines and advertising campaigns in Britain and abroad, and for several books of his work. He is known for his innovative portraiture, and has had a long association with the music industry. Griffin's work is held by public collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Portrait Gallery, London. The international photography festival Les Rencontres d'Arles  featured a major retrospective of his work in 2009, and he was also the subject of three retrospective exhibitions in his home city of Birmingham in 2010. His exhibition The Black Country was held at the College des Bernadins, Paris. These pages shows an archive selection of some of his works from England & Co's 2008 exhibition, Brian Griffin: Photographs and from the 2009 group exhibition City X.
