Richard Nie

Richard Nie is a British artist born in 1954. He was initially self-taught and began drawing around the time he taught himself to play the guitar. He used the writing of the chord symbols, notes and diagrams, and evolved his own iconography and imagery of faces and figures. Nie later studied art and design at Goldsmiths College, London. He was included in Obsessive Visions: Art Outside the Mainstream at England & Co (2001), and was one of the artists chosen for the major exhibition of British Outsider Art at Musée La Halle Saint Pierre in Paris (2008). Nie's work is represented in private and public collections, including the Musgrave Kinley Outsider Art Collection at the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester.
