Paussus 1981
Unique collage of 16 vintage colour performance photographs laid on cardboard
42 x 30 cm
"Applying paint to my face, I speak about Paussus, the genus of beetle who hack into ant nests, mimicking their stridulation, hijacking the ants’ chemical communication with their own secretions, which allow the beetle to devour the seemingly enticing, ecstatic ants. I spoke/sang about these thoughts and inter-relationships whilst slowly transforming my face." – Anne Bean, 1981
